Permits Officer

HELP SHAPE PALMERSTON'S FUTURE

City of Palmerston is seeking a practical and customer-focused Permits Officer to support the safe and compliant delivery of developments and private works across our growing city.

In this on-going full-time role, you'll assess civil drawings and plans, process permits for works on Council land and road reserves, conduct site inspections, provide technical advice to stakeholders, and coordinate Council's stormwater and driveway programs.

Working closely with the Planning and Development Manager, you'll help ensure developments meet legislative and Council requirements while contributing to continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.

About you

We are looking for a practical and solutions-focused professional who enjoys working with people and applying their technical knowledge to achieve positive outcomes for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV (non-trade) or relevant knowledge and skills gained through experience in civil engineering, drafting, building, construction or a related field.
  • Experience delivering quality customer service and working effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of civil construction standards, current technology and design requirements.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear correspondence.
  • A current White Card or the ability to obtain one.
