This role provides the opportunity to deliver expert financial leadership, supporting informed decisions and long-term sustainability. You will prepare compliant Annual Financial Statements and statutory reports, monitor budgets, analyse performance, and recommend strategies to optimise outcomes.
The role also oversees ERP and financial systems, ensuring accuracy, integration, and efficiency. It maintains strong internal controls, manages financial risks, supports audits, and contributes to financial policies and long-term plans. Leading a small team, this role fosters a collaborative, high-performing culture, builds strong stakeholder relationships, and presents key financial insights at briefings and forums.
To succeed in this role, you will bring tertiary qualifications in Accounting (or a related discipline), at least three years’ accounting experience, two years in a supervisory or management role, and current (or working towards) membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
Proven experience preparing Annual Financial Statements, financial modelling, scenario analysis, and contributing to policy and long-term strategy is essential. Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, communication skills, technical expertise, combined with a customer-focused approach, will enable you to drive financial integrity and support Council’s objectives.
